"Hey Val..", he swivels around in his chair to me.

"I'll keep my head on straight", he says to me with that little grin he does.

I exhale through my nose and smile back. I hold the papers in my hand very feminine and gingerly as I duck out of his office.

Maybe things will be alright, afterall.
